Welcome to the Pokemon Shrine page! This Shrine will be detailing my history with the Pokemon franchise, particularly the games.

Pokemon is a video game franchise centered on capturing creatures called Pocket Monsters, and more often than not, using them to battle other Pokemon Trainers and their teams.

In most games, you will be battling the Gym Leaders across a particular region that are in charge of their respective Pokemon Gyms in order to try and make it to the Pokemon League, where you will fight the Elite 4 and become Champion after defeating them and the previous Champion.

However, some games in recent years have deviated from this formula.

Usually each generation has 2 games to represent the region where the games are located. They are more or less the same, but usually have Pokemon exclusive to each version to encourage trading with others playing the games. Sometimes there are characters or Gym Leaders exclusive to one or the other version too.

Occasionally there will be extra games representing a different region in the same generation because an older game was remade at some point, and before Gen 8 there were certain pairs of games that had additional third versions that enhanced the gameplay of the originals, changed around the story and Pokemon, or added new features.

Gaming mechanics that are usually par for the course in mainline Pokemon games are trading, battling (with ppl irl), and some kind of minigame (or multiple).

There are over 8 generations of Pokemon games to play and enjoy!!
